Why It’s Better Being Different

on

Life is too short to blend into the background. We’re all unique in our own way. Whether it’s your coffee, favorite shows, or hobbies, every little thing you do makes you unique.

If we were all the same, life would be boring. Being different makes life more enjoyable and exciting. Without our differences, life would be like playing the same level of a video game every day.

At Continue, our motto is to never stop, be brave, and be colorful. We want you to be unapologetically yourself. Our name incorporates the semicolon, a reminder that your teenage years are a stage of your life and part of your journey. We’re sharing a five reasons why being different is the best way to embrace being a teenager.

  1. Your teenage years shape your personality

Research shows that your teenage years shape your personality. You’ll be a happier adult by embracing who you are as a teen. Don’t be afraid to be brave and colorful with your life. Being different – and embracing what makes us unique – is the key to happiness.

  1. There’s only one version of you

The secret to happiness is being brave. It’s being true to yourself and leading the life that you want to lead. There’s only one version of you.

Imagine if the friend that always made you laugh stopped telling their jokes. You’d miss that about them. You’d tell them that no one can tell jokes as well as they can.

The same is true for you. There’s only one version of you. Once you start being like everyone else, life starts getting less fun.

  1. Being the same is boring

It’s why we look different even when wearing uniforms. We all put our own twist on it – whether it’s with accessories or how to style it. Being the same as everyone else is boring. That’s why we’re always doing something different. You wouldn’t have the same sandwich for lunch every day.

  1. The world is better in color

We find ourselves instantly attracted to color. No one sees life through the same lens, but we all love color. It’s why you and your best friend might have favorite colors that are different. We all enjoy color but in our own ways.

If you want to experience life in colour, the key is to use your imagination and be brave. Creativity comes from individuality. If you’re trying hard to be like everyone else, you’re losing your creativity and individuality.

  1. Building your skills and talents

Sometimes, when we feel like we have to fit in, we ignore our gifts or skills. You have a sport that you’ve played from childhood. Maybe it’s not the sports your friends play. By giving it up just because it’s not what everyone else is doing, you’re losing out on a chance to do something that makes you happy.

Using your skills and talents as a teenager can help you live a more colorful life. Imagine if Steve Jobs stopped being interested in computers or if Cristiano Ronaldo stopped playing football as a teenager. Their lives would be very different.

Being different is better because it means you’re doing what makes you happy. No matter what. Never stop being you. Be brave, be colorful, and most of all, be you.
